Circa
1890-1915 belt buckle from the DOWLING COMMANDERY. Engraved lettering,
raised #14 in center.
2 3/4" x 2
1/4".
I am not sure of
its origin but from various sites on the web I believe it is from an
association of the Knights Templar.
All Knights Templar are members of the world's oldest fraternal
organization known as Free And Accepted Masons. However, not all Masons
are Templars. Templary is but a part of the Masonic structure known as
the "York Rite Of Freemasonry"
An Internet Search engine check on "Commandery"
will give the reader more general information but more specific
information would be welcome.
