1. 1891 Minister Dowling OUAM Pictorial Bible
Many families traditionally write the genealogy of their ancestors into the family bible.
Some just note family events.
This is an immense bible from 1891 that was owned by a minister with the last name of Dowling. [Click on the thumbnails to enlarge.] It measures 10" x 13" and is 4" thick . As evidence of being well-used its spine had been taped due to looseness and first few inside pages are detached, but is still intact overall.
The leather cover embossed with the Junior Order United American Mechanics (OUAM) logo. It contains over 1400 pages!
This is a pictorial bible and profusely illustrated with a biblical dictionary, old & new testament, history of the Life of Christ, biography of the books of Bible- scripture difficulties explained and more!
This is a hand written page with notes making reference to church programs at Antioch Baptist Church in Edenborn PA where Rev. Dowling was the Pastor.

Several pages have genealogical information handwritten, probably by the Pastor, and some details can be made out from the enlarged pictures available if you click on the thumbnail shown on this page. The Bible was sold in auction on E-bay on the 21 April 2003 for $52.99 to "bbhunter" in the United States of America.
Pastor Leroy Dowling is not traceable at present but may be identical with the Leroy son of Zinnermon Dowling son of Dempsey Dowling [the US "Dowling Family of the South"].
