Dr. Thomas A Dooley 
(1927 - 1961)


Born in St. Louis in 1927, served in Southeast Asia as a Catholic medical missionary for many years.  

He came to national attention in 1954 when he oversaw the treatment of thousands of refugees from North Vietnam.  

Dr. Dooley founded a hospital in Laos and Medical International Corporation, now part of CARE, to provide medical care in remote areas.  

He died in 1961.
