This Memorial was erected by their surviving comrades to the memory of 17 officers and men of the 4th  Battalion Leinster Regiment (Royal Queen's County Regiment) who gave their lives in the great war. This war memorial originally built 1928 at Bank Place Portlaoise was re-located at Millview Memorial Park by Comhairle Chontae Laoise.  Officially unveiled by Martin Rohan, M.C.C. Cathaoirleach Laois County Council in the presence of Tom Jacob, T.C. Cathaoirleach Portlaoise Town Commission Representatives of Laois Heritage & The Community 11th June 2001
