Dowling's Pub Token Copper twopenny pub check of a 'hostelry' at 76 Phibsborough Road issued by the landlord W. Dowling in around 1860. Obverse : '2d.' 'W DOWLING 76 PHIBSBORO ROAD' within a leafy border. Reverse : The check maker 'I C PARKES DUBLIN' in a ring. Pub checks were given, sold at a discount, provided with the hire of a room to purchase liquid or solid refreshment at the bar. Phibsborough road is just north of the city centre in the district of Phibsborough, I can not find out what the public house was.
